The Boone Central softball team will take a 12-12 record into the final stretch of the 2008 season after winning one of three games last week.
The Cardinals began thier week with an exciting 4-2 win over host Battle Creek in a Tuesday triangular Sept. 23.
Marissa Koch and Chancee Nolan staked BC to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning and Battle Creek came right back with a pair in the bottom of the frame. Boone Central got the decisive runs from Savannah Baker and Paige Kolm in the fifth, with Lindsay Temme belting a double.
Missy Zoucha picked up the win, allowing two runs on three hits.
Boone Central did not fare as well in the nightcap, taking an 11-1 loss at the hands of Wayne.
The Cards had just two hits, with Kolm doubling and scoring BC’s only run in the fourth.
Boone Central bounced back to play an exciting contest against High Plains on Seniors/Parents Night at the Albion Sports Complex Thursday, but dropped a 4-3 extra-inning decision to the Storm.
The squads were knotted 2-2 after seven frames and High Plains scored twice in the top of the eighth. Temme came home when Calen Choyeski reached by error in the bottom of the inning, but Choyeski was stranded at second base to end the game.
