Loup Power customers will see Jan. 1 rate hike
December 29, 2008
Loup Power District retail customers will be asked to pay more for their electric power beginning Jan. 1, 2009, according to Donald Pearson, chairman of the Loup Power Rate Committee.
The rate increase reflects an increase in the cost of wholesale power to the district from Nebraska Public Power District and increased operational costs of the Loup Power District. Operational costs include cost of materials for operations and maintenance activities, employee costs, insurance costs and other costs, which increase because of inflation.
The district’s overall increase for all retail customer classes is 7.12 percent. The average residential customer will pay about $5.18 more per month, an increase of 5.91 percent, for their electric power. Customers using more or less than average will see corresponding changes in their monthly bills..
