Cards Lack Offense, Drop Two

Olson After Two
After scoring just 12 first-half points and falling behind by 15, Boone Central gamely rallied against visiting Twin River, but fell just short when a last-second shot kicked off the back of the rim.
Norfolk Catholic used its quickness and a frenetic pace to spark a 13-0 run late in the first period Friday and used an up-tempo game to score a 54-33 victory.
“Our players continue to work hard,” credited Boone Central Coach Dan Zoucha. “We still need to develop some consistency on offense.
“Defensively, we will have to work harder to challenge our opponents to shoot a lower percentage from the field,” he added. “When our shots are not dropping, our defensive intensity must rise that much more.” Read more

NPPD official discusses wind project at Petersburg
December 22, 2008
More than 50 people attended a meeting hosted by NPPD in Werner Hall, Petersburg, on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008 to explain the proposed wind power project in the Petersburg area.
Also attending were representatives from Cornhusker Power, Loup Power and wind company developers.
Dave Rich, Renewable Energy Development Manager with NPPD, explained he was present to provide an overview, request for proposals and solicit input. “If you would like good information,” Rich stated, “go to Its YourPower.org. There’s a lot of information on that site.”
He displayed a graph showing NPPD derives 57 percent of its power from coal, 24 percent from nuclear generation and nine percent hydro, with very little from gas or oil. “A lot of what’s going to happen in the future depends on Washington,” he stated. “Cost of electricity here currently is the sixth lowest in the nation.”
