Tom Pelster receives Hero Award

Tom Pelster of Petersburg received the Hero Award, presented by the Nebraska Funeral Directors Association, for his heroic actions during a July 2007 accident on Highway 14 near the Pelster residence.

It is believed that quick thinking by Mr. Pelster may have saved the life of one of the accident victims. He was nominated for the award by the Petersburg Rescue Squad.

The award was presented to Pelster Monday at his home by Tony Levander, funeral director for the Huffman-Levander Funeral Home in Elgin, and Ron Levander, funeral director of Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
