Rae Valley Heritage Association is making preparations for its 27th annual Nebraska State Antique Tractor and Horse Plowing Bee to be held Aug. 22 and 23, 2009 at the Charlie Huisman farm west of Petersburg.

Saturday begins with a consignment auction at 9 a.m. on the north portion of the grounds. Working events and plowing start at 11 a.m., followed by the stock antique tractor pull and tractor games at 12 noon. The tractor pull features four classes of tractors. One class is for only steel-wheeled tractors.

. A “Parade of Power” begins at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The steam engine spark show is at dusk, and the old-fashioned open music jam and dance will be held from 8 to 10 p.m.

Sunday’s schedule starts with an outdoor worship service at 10 a.m., antique tractor balance contest and games at 10:30 a.m., and another session of working events, plowing and tractor games at 11 a.m.

On Sunday afternoon, horse and mule plowing will be at 12:30 p.m., a kiddie tractor pull is set for 1 p.m., antique tractor plowing at 1 p.m. and the final Parade of Power at 2:30. Following the parade, a kids’ money scramble will be held, and trophies will be awarded. The raffle drawing for a restored 1950 Allis Chalmers WD tractor, a pedal tractor and commemorative quilt will close out Sunday’s entertainment.

There is also plenty to see on the demonstration side of the grounds.
