Megan Haave returns for children’s book signing

Megan is also acquainted with Mr. Henning’s brother, Rod, who owns Hallmark stores in Kansas and Missouri. She was part of a group of students who helped with summer inventories at those stores when she was in high school here.
Megan has been employed by Hallmark headquarters in Kansas City since August 2007, and she is working with other writers and artists there on new book concepts.

Anice Ida Leach, 91, of Petersburg died on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009 at the Boone County Health Center in Albion. Funeral services were held on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion. Rev. Ray Avidano officiated. Burial was held at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Petersburg. Marjorie Elaine Grape, 92, of St. Edward died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009 at the Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward. Funeral services were held on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Presbyterian Church in St. Edward. Pastor Glen Williamson and Rev. Glen Holtz officiated. John E. Jacobi, 84, of Spalding died on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009 at the Boone County Hospital in Albion. Funeral services were held on Friday, Nov. 13 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spalding. Revs. Donald Burhman and James Murphy officiated. Knott represents Petersburg at NCIP workshop

Lane Knott, son of Ross and Sheila Knott of Petersburg, was one of 17 Nebraska youth who participated in the NCIP day-long workshop held in Kearney on Friday, Nov. 6.
A fun start to the day was a “get acquainted, guess your middle name” activity.
Using the 4-H EntrepreneurShip investigation (ESI) curriculum, youth discovered what it means to be an entrepreneur and to think how each one of them can make a difference in their own communities.
Megan Haave schedules book signing in Albion

Megan Haave
On Friday, she will be speaking with a high school class and then will do a couple of readings from her new children’s book, It’s Not Easy Being Brave, to elementary classes. On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Megan will be featured at an open house and book signing at Wells’ Drug and Hallmark.
Megan is currently employed by Hallmark in Kansas City, MO, and recently had her book published. The book was available in stores in October.

Victor Borer honored on Veterans Day

Vic served in the Army from June 1941 through Nov. 1945 as a Staff Sergeant in Company H of the 63rd Infantry. He served in Hawaii, New Guinea and the Philippines. He directed a machine gun crew in many battles in New Guinea and the Philippines, and at the Battle of Luzon, where he was wounded. Read more
Hospital schedules H1N1 clinic

Boone County Health Center will be hosting an H1N1 nasal spray clinic for Boone County residents this Thursday, Nov. 19, starting at 5 p.m. and lasting until 7 p.m. or until the vaccine supply runs out.
Those in good health from two to 49 years of age are eligible to receive the nasal spray.
This is not injectable vaccine, and the injectable vaccine will not be available at this clinic.
