Petersburg wins special NCIP awards

Nine members of the Petersburg community attended the Governor’s second annual Conference on Rural Development and NCIP Award Banquet held Friday, Nov. 6, in Kearney.
Petersburg was entered in three Special Award categories and won first place in all three in their population category.
Volunteers, from age 10 to 70, participated in the NCIP Leadership Challenge. For all their efforts, the group received a first place in the volunteer and leadership development category.
The Rae Valley Market expansion was awarded the Business Assistance and Development Award.
Petersburg also received the Park, Recreation and Environmental Awareness award for community environmental care.
Contractors, vendors turn out for pre-bid meeting at courthouse

An estimated 35 to 40 contractors and vendors, including many from the Boone County area, attended a pre-bid meeting on the Boone County Courthouse renovation project last Thursday, Nov. 5, at the courthouse.
Requirements and plans for the project were laid out during the meeting and courthouse walk-through conducted by Beckenhauer Construction, the general contractor and construction manager.
Bids will be opened next Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m. in the courthouse. Beckenhauer will review the bids and return with a list of recommended bids to the county board’s review and approval.

St. Edward Coach Jereme Jones was pleased that his squad took care of business Friday, blasting Wheeler Central 50-14 in St. Edward and advancing to the Nebraska Six-Man Football state playoff semi-finals for the second consecutive year.
“I am very proud of my guys. This was the best we’ve played defensively all season,” Jones praised. “We had a rough week with illness and I’m glad the guys were able to overcome it. We had a lot of players under the weather.” Read more

So, what do those combinations mean?
First, we have the aggregate score from all games between Class C1 through Class D2 #1 & #16 seeds in the opening round of the 2009 Nebraska State Football Playoffs - 351-64 (an average final of 44-8).
Next is the combined total scores of the games in those classes featuring #2 seeds vs. #15 seeds - 328-52 (41-6 average).
Finally, add ‘em all up and you get 679-116, an average game score of 42-7.
