Prior to the holiday break each year, students are often faced with some harrowing final exams.
The Boone Central girls basketball team passed a pair of tough pre-holiday tests last week, improving to 6-0 with victories over Twin River and West Holt.
“We are very pleased to have started our season with six consecutive wins,” commented Cardinal Coach Mike Kennedy. “To this point, we have been an unselfish team that has many players who can contribute. This is the greatest strength of this team.” Read more

After dropping a pair of road contests to begin their week, the Boone Central Cardinals used a late flurry Saturday to earn their first victory of the season over visiting West Holt in Albion.
Boone Central (1-6) traveled to Twin River Tuesday, Dec. 15, and dropped a 47-39 decision to the host Titans.
“Another slow start and furious fourth quarter is the best way to summarize,” said BC Coach Dan Zoucha. “We had a low turnover rate (7), but were unable to get our shots to drop.
“We did force a number of shots, which had us out of rebounding position. When we did get offensive rebounds, we could not convert. We changed things up in the fourth quarter and made a run, but Twin River shot well from the free throw line.”

Julian Kunzman led the Cards with 17 points and Nathan Olson grabbed nine rebounds. Read more

Only six varsity matches were wrestled Thursday against a traditionally-strong Northwest squad. Boone Central wrestlers won two of those matches - Jon Christo (189) pinning Jaden Hill and Jacob Meyer (119) decisioning Trevor Kemmet - and also got a forfeit victory when Mitchell Patzel (125) went unopposed.
Northwest won the dual competition 66-15.
