City sales tax revenue strong in December 2009

Albion city sales tax revenue increased in December 2009 for the second consecutive month.
Total receipts were $59,947, for an increase of 13 percent over the December 2008 total of $53,127, and up 61.5 percent over the November 2009 total of $37,125.
Sales tax revenue for the last six months of 2009 (July through December) totaled $257,433, and were down 9.3 percent from the 2008 July through December total of $283,827.
Motor vehicle sales tax receipts for December 2009 were also strong at $2,590. The total was up 16 percent from December 2008 but five percent below the total for November 2009.
