Olson Selected For 2010 Shrine Bowl Game

In the opening round Thursday, Meyer was nipped 5-4 by one of the top-ranked wrestlers in the 119-pound division, Calvin Bishop of Auburn. Meyer finished his experience in the 2010 state meet with a competitive 13-9 loss to Aurora’s Connor Strong. Read more
Crofton Clips Cardinal Cagers

The Boone Central Cardinals traveled north to face a salty Crofton (16-4) squad Friday, Feb. 19, and dropped a 54-40 decision, closing out the regular season with an 8-12 record.
Boone Central opened play in the C1-7 Sub-District Tuesday against Columbus Scotus (9-9). The winner plays Thursday in the sub-district final at Columbus High School (7 p.m.).
The Cardinals played a solid game at Crofton overall, but got in a hole they could not climb out of with a sluggish second period. Read more
Petersburg Fire Dept. wins Mansfield grant

With the grant money, the firemen have purchased some needed furnishings for the new fire hall, including 17 rectangle and round folding tables, 125 vinyl chairs, four aluminum eight-foot portable benches, caddies for all the chairs and tables, and a dry erase and corkboard for the meeting room. These tables and benches were greatly needed by the department, and the equipment will be used during many activities including those sponsored by the Petersburg firemen and rescue squad personnel.
Keno to be on May ballot?

A special meeting of the Petersburg Village Board was scheduled Wednesday, Feb. 17. to decide whether Keno will be placed on the May election ballot for residents of Petersburg.
Bloodmobile coming March 1

A Red Cross Bloodmobile will be held in Petersburg on Monday, March 1, from 12 noon to 6 p.m. at the Petersburg Legion Club.

Jim Brown to retire from feedlot manager post

Jim Brown
During that time, Brown has been in charge of buying and selling commodities for the operation. He also has been in charge of the general organization of the feedlots and farms. He has kept track of the consumption of the commodities, implant dates and other general operations in the feedlots.
