County’s valuation to top $1 billion

May 25, 2010

Boone County’s total property valuation will top $1 billion for the first time this year, according to preliminary figures compiled by County Assessor Joyce Sock.

Valuation of all the county’s real estate and personal property for 2010 is expected to total at least $1,031,573,697, which would be a 9.8 percent increase from last year’s total of $939,251,747.

The total valuation is not yet final because the personal property value of utilities and railroads will not be certified until August.

Once again, strong agricultural land sales — especially for irrigated farmland — are a primary driving force in a $92 million valuation increase for 2010.
