Crews clearing land for wind farm

Land has been cleared in two locations near Petersburg and Raeville in preparation for construction of the Laredo Ridge Wind Farm.

A portion of a field near the Ken and Jo Schmitz residence, southeast of Raeville, has been cleared and graveled for use as the “laydown” or staging area for the wind farm construction. This area will be used by Wanzek Construction for their office and equipment area.

Another parcel of land on the south side of Highway 32, east of Petersburg and just south of the Loup Public Power District substation, has been cleared for the wind farm’s operations and maintenance building.
