BC Fair Team Penning Draws Big Turnout

While the team penning event at the Boone County Fair drew a large turnout of teams, the competition turned out to be much longer than anyone could have anticipated.
A total of 69 adult teams and six youth teams began the penning event early Sunday evening, were forced to wait out rain and lightning several hours into the competition, then resumed and finished at 1:45 a.m. Monday.
Coming through the marathon night with the team championship were Monte Haiar, Roger Williams and Pat Mahoney. Rob and Jake Stevenson and Whitey Reinhart took runner-up honors.
Following are the top eight teams in the adult division: 1- Monte Haiar, Roger Williams, Pat Mahoney (2:04). 2- Rob Stevenson, Jake Stevenson, Whitey Reinhart (2:11). 3- Tom Jones, Tom Jurgens, Pat Mahoney (2:31). 4- Tim Christensen, Jeff Vondrack, Dan Reinhart (2:35). 5- Bob Frey, Terry Milander, Gene Kasperbauer (2:39). 6- Pat Mahoney, Terry Milander, Gene Kasperbauer (2:43). 7- James Hanson, Phillip Wright, Tim Christensen (.40 1st Rd., No time 2nd Rd.). 8- Dave Goodman, Tom Jones, Tom Jurgens (.50 1st, NT 2nd).
