Petersburg ‘Bash’ attracts 500

Mother Nature cooperated with the Petersburg Bash in the Burg committee by cooling the temperature down and reducing humidity for a ‘picture perfect’ day last Saturday, Aug. 14. It was estimated that the crowd for the event was around 500 people.

Two Albionites were winners in the men’s fun run. Kevin Carder placed first and Brody Kelly came in second. Halley VanLaningham of Lincoln placed first in the women’s fun run, and Candace Clow of Omaha placed second.

There were 10 competitors in the BBQ Challenge, and 30 entries in the Home Brew contest.

Overall BBQ grand champion was Nick Wolfe of Norfolk. Reserve champion was awarded to Out of the Blue BBQ, Jim Casper of Petersburg. Third place winner was Dean Blecher of Norfolk, 94 Rock. Randy Stuhr, Slim’s Beer & Butt BBQ, of Albion was chosen as the fourth place winner. People’s Choice Award went to Out of the Blue BBQ from Petersburg.
