New gift store to feature southern flair

Betsy Sallach HarrisTwo couples with ties to Albion are planning to open a new store featuring gifts, home decor and garden items with a southern flair.

The store, to be called The Gray Haired Trout, will be opening in late August or early September at 432 West Main Street. Remodeling of the leased space has been underway for the past two weeks.

The idea originated with Joan Sallach, an Albion native who moved to the south in 1984, and her niece, Betsy Sallach Harris, who visited Joan several times while a student at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Betsy will be manager of the business when it opens in late August or early September.

Details in the April 22 Albion News Print and Electronic Editions.
