Food distribution illustrates need in area

Preparations for mobile food pantry in Albion.A total of 10,000 pounds of food vanished in about 2 1/2 hours during a Mobile Food Pantry distribution at the Albion Fire Station last Saturday, Aug. 23.
A truck load of healthy food from the Food Bank for the Heartland was delivered at 9 a.m. The food was unloaded and organized by about 25 volunteers, including members of the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, Boone County Ministerial Association and volunteers from area churches.
A total of 109 area residents picked up food, which provided for about 306 people.
