Nebraskans experienced typical hot, muggy weather conditions Sunday and drivers from the Lucas Oil/American Sprint Car Series only turned up that heat in their debut performance at the Boone County Raceway in Albion.
Brian Brown of Grain Valley, MO went to the front from the 8th starting position in the feature race, picking up the $3,000 winner’s share in the ASCS Midwest Region series event held in conjunction with the 2010 Boone County Fair. Read more

The Hobby Stock, Stock Car and Modified classes all had repeat feature winners in action Friday, July 9, at the Boone County Raceway in Albion while local driver Greg Krohn broke through for his first 2010 A event victory in the Late Model division.
Krohn wheeled his #20 ride to the top spot in the LM feature, solidifying his 5th place position in the season standings and pulling within two points of 4th place Randy Hooker. Read more

Thirteen co-ed teams braved the heat and humidity to compete in a two-day, double-elimination sand volleyball tournament at the Boone County Fair in Albion July 10-11.
A team comprised of players from Lincoln and Albion came through the action unscathed, defeating a squad from the Spalding area in Sunday’s final.
Members of the undefeated championship team were Adam and McKenzie Flanagan, Tony Gragert, Samantha Henn, Ryan McCracken and Amanda Kermoade. Read more

BC Fair Team Penning Draws Big Turnout

While the team penning event at the Boone County Fair drew a large turnout of teams, the competition turned out to be much longer than anyone could have anticipated.
A total of 69 adult teams and six youth teams began the penning event early Sunday evening, were forced to wait out rain and lightning several hours into the competition, then resumed and finished at 1:45 a.m. Monday.
Coming through the marathon night with the team championship were Monte Haiar, Roger Williams and Pat Mahoney. Rob and Jake Stevenson and Whitey Reinhart took runner-up honors. Read more
