Even though it was the Six-Man Coaches Association championship game November 13 at UNK’s Foster Field, St. Edward must have felt like the Greeley/Wolbach Titans had eight, or even 11, players on the field at times.
The Titans, loaded with quick, fast athletes, attacked St. Edward from all angles Thursday and capped an undefeated season with a 67-24 victory. Read more

Three Boone Central athletes were members of the 2008 All-State cross country and girls golf teams announced by the Nebraska Coaches Association.
Cardinal senior Halie Smith and junior Kevin Carder were awarded all-state honors in cross country. Sophomore Brooke Bolin was an all-state selection in girls golf. Read more

The weather for Thursday’s six-man football state playoff semi-final game in St. Edward featured frigid temperatures, nose-numbing wind, sleet and even a few snow flakes. All in all, miserable conditions.
None of that could dampen the enthusiasm of Beaver players, coaches or fans, however, as St. Edward nipped Arthur County 40-36 to earn a berth in the 2008 Six-Man Coaches Association championship game. Read more

Hard-fought, valiant efforts were not quite enough for the Boone Central volleyball team in its final matches of the 2008 season.
After losing a 3-1 decision to Hartington Cedar Catholic in the 5th place match of the Mid-State Conference Tournament October 28, the Lady Cards were edged by Crofton in a 3-2 heartbreaker Monday in the first round of the C1-9 sub-district tournament at Norfolk. Read more

The Boone Central Cardinals knew it would be a monumental task facing Class C1 #1 rated Hastings St. Cecelia on the Bluehawks’ home turf in the qualifying round of the 2008 state football playoffs October 30.
After the hosts bolted to a 14-0 lead on four offensive plays, the Cards realized the mountain might be even steeper than anticipated.
St. Cecelia built on that early momentum, scoring on all five of its first half possessions, and pulled away to a 49-0 victory at Hastings’ Duncan Field. Read more

Boone Central’s cross country runners capped the 2008 season with one of the most impressive performances in school history at the annual NSAA championships October 24.
Competing against Nebraska’s best Class C harriers in cold, wet weather conditions over the challenging Kearney Country Club course, junior Kevin Carder and senior Halie Smith scored top five individual medals. The Boone Central boys team garnered a solid sixth place finish.
“Friday’s state meet may just have been the best performance by a Boone Central cross country team ever! There was not a single disappointment,” exclaimed Cardinal Coach Tom Dickey. Read more
