A total of 1,186 votes (67.5 percent) were cast against the bond proposal, while there were 570 votes (32.5 percent) in favor of the measure.

The bond proposal would have funded a new high school building, along with renovation of the present Albion school building to serve as a pre-kindergarten, elementary and middle school. The proposal also included a 500-seat fine arts auditorium as part of the high school building complex, and renovation of the existing outdoor athletic complex.

Voters in eight precincts cast ballots in the Boone Central bond election.

In the Republican race for District 2 Boone County Commissioner, incumbent Jerry Tisthammer was elected to a fourth four-year term on the board.

Tisthammer defeated challenger Tom Fick by a margin of 66 votes, 359 to 293. The race was a rematch from four years ago, when Tisthammer edged Fick by only eight votes.

Albion voters approved a keno lottery issue on the primary ballot by a margin of 522 votes in favor to 245 against.

The school will also honor six other staff members who will be leaving Boone Central after this year. They are Bailey Kaveledge, Teresa Lab, Deb Larson, Kris Martinsen, Lisa Pedro and Jeremy Struckman.

The plaque was awarded to Tom Swisher of Gestamp, Petersburg 27 Wind Farm. Several months ago, Gestamp purchased the completed wind farm from Third Planet Wind, LLC.

‘The J’ sign after fell to the ground on May 11.

The sign fell before the restaurant opened for the day, so there were no vehicles in the parking lot. Support poles were apparently weakened by corrosion over the years.

Co-owner/manager Tom Ketteler said the sign structure will be rebuilt and installed.
