Paul Weeder of rural Albion had never experienced any heart problems until last November. The 76-year-old experienced a major heart attack in November 2023 that required a trip to the emergency room, an ambulance transfer and stint procedure, but after good care he was quickly back at home.

Boone County Commissioners on Monday appointed Tana McMillan Dozler as the new Boone County Veterans Service Officer. She started her new duties on Monday, and will be in training for several months with former Veterans Service Officer Jacqueline Wells.

Boone Central girls will also have three state qualifiers from the C1 District in Battle Creek.

Boone Central School Board approved contracts Monday night for its three principals, activities director and one new teacher for the 2024-25 school year. The board also approved purchase of basketball shot clocks that could be required for varsity competitions next season.

Boone Central hit a bit of a momentum speed bump in a tough loss to Northwest Thursday, but the Cardinals were still able to get a split in the week’s two games and have been been victorious in 8 of their last 10 games.

It’s one of the most exciting weekends of the Nebraska winter athletic calendar. District wrestling. State bound or done for wrestlers who have given their all throughout the season. One chance, one shot. Drama, indeed.

Red Cross coordinators JoAnn Mattner and Kathy Koch stated there was a great response to the February blood drive which was dedicated to the memory of longtime Petersburg supporter Larry Temme. Fifty-two units of blood were collected, possibly saving 156 lives.
