Cards get final tune-up for district at Ord Invite

The Boone Central Cardinal track/field teams competed in their final regular-season meet May 2 at the Ord Invitational. With district competition only a week away, Coach Susan Roberts decided not to enter her full varsity team and gave a number of JV athletes a chance to compete at the varsity level. At the end of the day, the girls team still claimed the meet championship and the boys had a solid second-place finish behind the host school.

 That was the lucky lottery number for the Boone Central Cardinals Tuesday.

 On a warm but breezy day in Albion, Boone scored 110 points in both the girls and boys competition in the B-4 District track and field event, winning team championships in both divisions. The Cardinals also emerged with 17 qualifiers for the 2024 Nebraska State Track and Field Championships in Omaha May 15-16.

State Qualifiers for Boone Central will compete in 17 events in the Class B State Meet.

Host Cardinals fly high in Mid-State

Boone Central hosted the Mid-State Conference Track and Field Championships Saturday, April 27, in Albion. Nine league schools competed, with the Cardinals scoring 118 points in both boys and girls divisions.

Boone golfers swing away in Lakeview Invite

The Boone Central boys golf team continued its 2024 season April 25 in the Lakeview Invitational at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus. Playing the challenging Quail Run layout for the second time (previously in the Scotus Invite April 18), the Cardinals finished with a team score of 442 Thursday, placing 10th in the tough 12-team field.
