Boone County voters are being notified this week of Nebraska’s 2024 primary election to be held Tuesday, May 14. Deadline to register to vote in the Boone County Clerk’s office in order to vote in the primary is May 3, 2024 at 6 p.m.

Cardinals return to action, vie in Mid-State championships

It was back to business for the Boone Central wrestling team at the Madison Invitational Friday, Jan. 19. With some team members returning from injury, the Cardinals fought to a sixth-place finish in the 13-team event. Hank Hudson (215) and Thomaas Roberts (190) were both weight class runners-up. Additional medalists included William Roberts (285 - 3rd), Jose Luna (113 - 4th), Carson Wood (132 - 4th) and Dylan Staub (175 - 5th).

Lady Cards salvage split with win at Ord

After a longer than anticipated winter break due to the arrival of extreme winter weather, the Boone Central Lady Cardinals were back on their home court on Jan. 18 to face a tough Columbus Scotus squad (8-5). The freezing temperatures of the past couple weeks unfortunately seeped into the gym and the Shamrocks were able to ice the Cards 44-17.

Be safe during severe weather

Much of Nebraska got its first taste of snow over the holidays, and another winter storm arrived Sunday into Monday. Both Black Hills Energy and Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) issues reminders to customers about the importance of safety during severe winter weather.
