Each year in early spring, Christians across the globe celebrate their faith on Easter. Easter commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, an event which is described in the New Testament.
Some 35 bullriders from Nebraska and seven other states competed in the 29th annual Gateway to the Sandhills Bullride at the Niewohner Arena in Albion last Saturday night, March 16. Nebraskans won the top two placings, with Cooper Kursave of Arcadia in first place and Ben Wood of Greeley finishing second. About 800 people attended the event sponsored by Albion FFA Alumni.
Boone County currently has no zoning administrator, and the volunteer chairman of the County Planning Commission is trying to get caught up with current business. Teri Jasa, appointed as zoning administrator in February, resigned from the position on March 13.
Summit Carbon Solutions engineer Kylie Lange refers to one of the information placards available at the company’s open house last Tuesday morning, March 12, at the Casey building on the county fairgrounds. The company has recently changed its pipeline plan to add eight Valero Renewables ethanol plants, including the plant at Albion, as shippers on its planned CO2 pipeline. A second meeting is planned here March 26.
Many hay bales were destroyed in a fire Monday, March 11, at Cedar River Feeders near Cedar Rapids, but no equipment or other property was damaged in the blaze. Owner Paul Groeteke said he is also thankful there were no injuries to either personnel or animals during this incident.
