While we may not be moving to Albion, or Boone County, I want to make sure that all of you understand my “business model” for running my newspapers – local news is very nearly all that matters.

Riverside champions again in HLHF Bulldog Invite

Humphrey hosted its annual Bulldog Invitational track/field competition Wednesday, May 1, with area teams Riverside and Humphrey/ Lindsay Holy Family among teams competing. The competition provided a great day as the 2024 season winds down.

Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home surpasses goal

After sending out an appeal last month, the Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home and Newman House in Newman Grove announced this week that nearly $131,000 in donations have been received. The total of $130,920 was reached on Monday, May 6, and about 110 donors had contributed as of that date.

Special music award winners at Boone Central

Four graduating seniors were honored with special music awards at the Boone Central Fine Arts Banquet Monday night, May 6. Recipients, l.-r., are Nathan Devine, Outstanding Instrumentalist; Bella Meyer, John Phillip Sousa National Band Award; Emma Lordemann, National Choral Award, and Myranda Nelson, Outstanding Vocalist Award. The annual spring concert, also presented Monday night, featured the concert band, concert choir, Breakfast Club and jazz band. Vocal solists included Dyanna Buettner, Eloise Martinez, Myranda Nelson, Jaxon Lipker, Emma Lordemann and Quinn Bittner. Instrumental soloists were Cooper Holan, Jessie Heynie and Bella Meyer.
