Newman Grove and Riverside will hold commencement exercises on Saturday, May 11, at 2 p.m. in their respective high school gyms.

Boone Central High School will be hosting the B-4 District track and field meet for both boys and girls next Tuesday, May 7. Due to hosting this district meet, there will be no school for Boone Central Middle School and High School (grades 5-12).

Boone County Commissioners started their April 24 meeting with a discussion of water drainage issues west of Albion in the area of 250th Street and Old Mill Road.

Jay Reicks, a Petersburg native, has recently joined Town & Country Insurance, a division of GTA Insurance Group (“TCI”). In this role, Jay will help cultivate relationships in the community and provide insurance products that fit the needs of his customers.

For anyone who is interested in becoming a Petersburg EMT, the Albion Department is in the process of scheduling EMT classes. However, no date has been set.

Area students will be among the graduates at Wayne State College commencement ceremonies for this Saturday, May 4, in the college’s historic Willow Bowl amphitheater. Graduate student ceremony will be at 10 a.m.

The Boone Central Junior Varsity track/field team visited Pierce Tuesday, April 23, to compete in the Bluejays’ annual freshman-sophomore meet. There were many new personal -best performances and improvements entering the final stretch of the 2024 season.
