Host Cardinals fly high in Mid-State

Boone Central hosted the Mid-State Conference Track and Field Championships Saturday, April 27, in Albion. Nine league schools competed, with the Cardinals scoring 118 points in both boys and girls divisions.

BC golfers swing away in Lakeview Invite

The Boone Central boys golf team continued its 2024 season April 25 in the Lakeview Invitational at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus. Playing the challenging Quail Run layout for the second time (previously in the Scotus Invite April 18), the Cardinals finished with a team score of 442 Thursday, placing 10th in the tough 12-team field.

Tornado spotted close to Petersburg on Friday

Last Friday, April 26, the Petersburg Fire Department trained spotters went into the countryside at 2:40 p.m. Somewhat after 3 p.m., a tornado was spotted one mile west and one-half south of Petersburg. Once the tornado touched the ground the local sirens were sounded. The tornado was watched until it became rain wrapped and apparently dissipated.

If you want to vote in the May 14, 2024 Primary Election and aren’t yet registered, you must be registered by Friday, May 3. To be registered, voters must reach the age of 18 on or before Nov.

Boone Central Chapter of National Honor Society held a tapping ceremony last Thursday, April 25, to induct 18 new members. The new members are (front, l.-r.) Commissioners hear from residents on drainage issues

Boone County Commissioners started their April 24 meeting with a discussion of water drainage issues west of Albion in the area of 250th Street and Old Mill Road. Steven Ruzek, Dave Warner and Rob Robinson told the board a waterway in that area backs up during big rains, which could cause flooding in some houses.
