Anhelina Umanska (right), a fifth grader at St. Edward Public Schools, was the first place winner for her age group in the recent Nebraska Wildlife Federation Poster Contest. She is shown with her teacher, Terri Osborn. Over 150 students in grades 4, 5, and 6 participated in this contest. Nine students’ posters were selected, three from each grade. Anhelina received first place in the fifth grade contest. Students were asked to research an endangered species in Nebraska and draw a poster of that animal. Anhelina drew an outstanding picture of a Whooping Crane. Anhelina, with her parents and Steve and Terri Osborn, attended the awards ceremony in Lincoln, NE on Saturday, June 15. Conservation & Education Committee Chair Russ Souchek presented the award.
