Speech team picks up fourth at state

The Cardinal Speech team traveled to Kearney last weekend, picking up a fourth-place sweepstakes finish, a State Champion and a number of individual medalists. Katelyn Curry picked up a State Championship for the Cardinals, Jordan Patzel won third in Poetry, Makenna Devine won sixth in the Entertainment category; and the OID team of Katelyn Curry, Brittany Sup, Eloise Martinez, Edwin Naranjo and Sydney Spangler took sixth overall.
Scouts hosting food drive next week

Albion Scouts are asking for help with their Scouting for Food drive to be held Saturday, April 5, 2025. Donations will be collected of any non-perishable food items for the Boone County Food Pantry.
Trollope signs with Peru...

Preston Trollope, a senior at Boone Central, recently signed his letter of intent to compete on the Peru State Men’s Bobcat Bowling team in the coming year. The Northeast Nebraska Motorsports Hall of Fame (NENMHOF) will officially enshrine it’s fourth Hall of Fame induction class at its Saturday, October 11th, 2025 Awards Banquet / Induction Ceremony. Among those to be inducted into this year’s Hall of Fame will be a standard in racing from the Albion community, Mike Landauer.

Newman Grove youth in WSC science event

Seventy-eight students from Northeast Nebraska schools competed during the Nebraska Junior Academy of Science’s (NJAS) Northeast Regional Science Fair held March 28 at Wayne State College. Sixteen science projects received invitations to NJAS’s State Science Fair on April 24.
City hosting well workshop for all

The City of Newman Grove will be hosting a well decommissioning open house on Tuesday, April 8 to discuss with any interested parties about well care and removal and a wellhead protection plan. The City of Newman Grove currently has funds to be able to offer 100 percent cost-share to decommission abandoned wells located in the project area shown in the map nearby.
