Three chosen for Legion Cornhusker State event

The Albion American Legion and Auxiliary have announced the selections for the 2025 Boys and Girls Cornhusker State event in Lincoln this summer - with three Cardinals planning to make the trip. The American Legion Post 162 and American Legion Auxiliary 162 named Grant Kuta, Edwin Naranjo Aranda and Miranda McGill, all of Albion, as sponsored by the local Post and Valero Renewables, and will join nearly 340 other high school juniors from across Nebraska in the American Legion Cornhusker Boys’ State program this summer.

A new scholarship opportunity for all high school graduates of a Boone County high school will begin this year for the 2025 graduates through the generosity of one man who lived his entire life in the Boone County area.

Nicole Rutten, RN, a caring long-term care nurse at Good Samaritan Society – Albion was recently awarded the 2025 Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses. She has served Good Samaritan since 2019.

Cardinals Face Tough Competition in GI

For the first time this season, the Cardinals track teams visited a location other than Albion or Wayne, heading to the Dave Gee Invitational in Grand Island on April 24th. This was a massive meet with fifteen teams from across the state including: Adams Central, Aurora, Broken Bow, Central City, Cozad, Grand Island Central Catholic, Holdrege, Milford, Minden, Norris, Grand Island Northwest, O’Neill, Omaha Skutt Catholic, and Waverly.

St. Michael’s school ready for 2025 Musical

St. Michael’s students are hard at work preparing for their spring concert titled “ The Story of Joseph.” Music for the performance will transport listeners to ancient Egypt where they hear about Joseph being sold into slavery, rising to power, and eventually forgiving his brothers.
