Every month during the school year, 10/11 and Doane University present the Golden Apple Award to a deserving teacher. The April 2025 winner is a business teacher at Boone Central High School. Joel Sup is described as a person whose actions are always in the best interests of kids.

Hank Thieman Petersburg American Legion Post #334 Commander presented Ferd Schrage Petersburg with a 70-year continuous membership plaque. Thieman thanked Schrage for his membership and support throughout those years.

Bloodmobile Coordinators JoAnn Mattner and Kathy Koch reported the April Petersburg drive collected 36 units with a goal of 38. This drive also saw many donator milestones.

Jill Anding of Thrivent, a Fortune 500 diversified financial services organization, partnered with the Boone County Area Food Pantry to host a Shred Event, Wednesday, April 30th. During this event, Thrivent along with shred attendees donated items and assembled Birthday party bags for the Boone County Area Food Pantry.

were busy last week, starting with many of the Cardinal athletes being invited to the Central Nebraska Track Championships in Grand Island on April 28th. The meet featured athletes from 33 schools.

The Boone Central Cardinal Golf team has progressed through their season with the Mid-State Conference on May 6, and just three more meets on the calendar until Districts. The Cardinal golf team hosted a triangular at the Albion Course on May 5, traveled to the Mid State Conference at Ponca on May 6, will head back east to Wayne on May 8, and then play in Norfolk on May 12.

Just of short of 250 rides happened this past weekend at the NBHA “Spring Fling” barrel races held in the Niewohner Arena! Additional ride opportunities for the young cowboys and cowgirls were also part of the weekend!

Loup Power District has recognized Brian Herman of Fullerton for 30 years of service. Herman joined Loup in 1995 as an Apprentice Line Technician in Fullerton and was promoted to Line Technician later that year.

Aidan Choat, a senior at Riverside High School, was selected to receive a $2,500 STAR Scholarship from the International P.E.O. Sisterhood.
