Venue on 4th opens season

The Albion Economic Development Corporation and a host of local vendors kicked off the season in downtown Albion with a Cinco De Mayo celebration at the Venue on 4th last week. Cinco De Mayo is Spanish for ‘Fifth of May’, and is an annual worldwide celebration held on May 5 to celebrate Mexico’s victory over the Second French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, led by General Ignacio Zaragoza.

Walking trail, park nears goal

Teammates celebrates year of mentoring

Boone Central TeamMates celebrated another great year of mentoring by hosting their annual Spring Banquet on Sunday, the 26th, at the Cardinal Inn. The evening was kicked off by a group of middle school students who performed their Oral Interpretation of Drama skit, “Ten Reasons You Should Stay Home from School.” Pastor Keith Brich, a TeamMate mentor himself, led the nearly 200 in attendance in prayer before enjoying a delicious meal catered by Country Mile Catering.

Community builders tour Leigh features on April 22

The Community of Leigh welcomed the area’s Community Builders group on April 22. Tours included Leigh Community Schools by Superintendent Cole Fischer, Leigh Acres Subdivision by Village Chairman Scott Kurpgeweit, REDSTAR by owner Kristin Mullenhoff, and C & L Acres by owner Rachel Koch.

New scoreboard, batting cage put together

The crew from Love Signs of Norfolk removed the old scoreboard at the football field and replaced it with the board recently purchased from Boone Central. The new board will be used for all high school, junior high, and youth football games. (at right) Thank you to Billy Christman, John Fritzges, Chris Tenski and crews for putting up the new batter’s cage in the park. The cage was donated by the St. Edward American Legion Post 226, and will be available to our local youth baseball and softball players. A sign recognizing their generous donation will be added to the cage.
