Freshman Hedlund reps BC Selections for 2024 Mid-State All-Conference girls basketball honors, voted on by conference coaches, were announced this past week. Boone Central freshman Addy Hedlund was rewarded for an impressive debut season with selection to the 10-player All-Conference team.

Boone Central track and field coach Susan Roberts can’t wait to start the 2024 spring season. For good reason.

It was supposed to be a comfy, controlled environment for teams to work out the kinks in their first track/field competition of 2024. Saturday’s Wayne State College Indoor Invite was flipped outside, however, and competitors braved the conditions, just as Nebraska athletes are conditioned to do.

As I write this, it’s a little chilly at 34 degrees, so hard to believe it’s time for the spring sports season but here it is. The Boone Central boys golf team is ready to hit the links and see if they have what it takes to qualify several for the state tournament in May.

With a solid core of letterwinners and four returning state qualifiers, Riverside enters the spring optimistic of its potential for the upcoming 2024 track and field season. Charger Coach LaTravia Dobson and assistants Dan Wolken, Cory Valacek and Samuel Polk will have nine returning letterwinners on the girls team and six for the boys squad, a solid base for a Class D program.

The St Edward High School track/field teams are getting warmed up for the start of the season, which will be here before we know it. Coach Tyler Gray, along with assistant coaches Melissa McIntosh and Clete Arasmith, return four seniors this season along with four juniors.

St. Edward track and field athletes began their 2024 spring season in the climate controlled confines of Seward’s Bulldog Fieldhouse at the 2024 Concordia University Bulldog Track & Field challenge.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family has a large roster of competitors in track/field this spring and should continue the school’s strong tradition in the sport. Coach Travis Friesen has 32 upperclassmen to lead the way in 2024, along with 15 eager freshmen who will inject new talent into the program.

The Riverside Chargers knew they had an extra-tough assignment in the Class D1 Nebraska State Basketball Tournament, drawing undefeated #1- ranked defending state champion Johnson-Brock in the first round.
