An alleged misuse of funds was announced April 16 by the Boone County Cops & Bobbers organization on social media. The organization’s board of directors published a letter on its Facebook page, stating that Cops & Bobbers was made aware on April 7 of “a possible situation involving misuse of our organization’s funds.” After an internal investigation and confirmation of the allegations, immediate measures were taken to ensure all missing funds were reimbursed by April 10, and that reimbursement was made.

Identifying and addressing challenges and needs in a community takes time and a dedicated effort to continue progressing. The Albion Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) was created specifically for this reason.

At their monthly meeting on May 13, the Boone Central School Board will consider formal adoption of a 2024-25 superintendent’s contract with Dr. Damon McDonald.

After 24 years in the health care field, Jennifer Beierman recently launched a new career as a commercial greenhouse operator. She is now fulfilling a longtime dream to operate her own greenhouse, and she’s enjoying the process of getting the operation started.

Boone County Health Center (BCHC) last week announced outstanding results from a recent state inspection conducted at the health center. CEO Caleb Poore said he was deeply grateful and appreciative of the BCHC team for their exceptional performance, dedication and commitment to excellence.

The Boone Central junior varsity track/field team traveled to Ord Monday, April 15, for the Chanticleers’ annual 9th/10th grade invitational meet. It was a great event for the younger athletes to gain more experience as they progress in their careers, and to set new marks as they compete with their teammates.

Boone Central golfers continued their spring season April 18, competing in another large, tough tournament on a challenging golf course. The Cardinals shot a team score of 455 to finish 18th in the 20-team field of the Scotus Invitational at Quail Run Golf Course.

Boone Central High School held its prom last Saturday evening, April 20, with a “Hollywood” theme. Jamie Zwiener and Jaxon Lipker were crowned as the prom royalty..
