Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family traveled to the Neligh-Oakdale Invitational this past April 9. It was great competition, which provided new top marks for the track/field athletes this season.

Burwell hosted its annual invitational track and field meet Friday, with area teams Riverside and St Edward attending. It was a great day for the Riverside Chargers as they competed well and got tons of new season bests.

Many highlights are planned for the annual Boone Central Team-Mates Banquet to be held this Sunday, April 21, at 6 p.m. in the Cardinal Inn Event Center.

Community Builders will hold its next meeting in Petersburg on Wednesday, May 1. Registration begins at 3 p.m.

Albion community hosted an Honor Blood Drive on April 8 for Mary Urwin and Donna Iwan, saluting their long-time volunteer service to the American Red Cross blood drives here. Kyle Jensen from the Red Cross presented them with a cake and gifts for their service.

Primary election ballots will be mailed out to Boone County voters next Wednesday, April 24, by the Boone County Clerk’s office. In order to be counted in the election, ballots must be returned by 8 p.m.

Planning, fund-raising and construction efforts are continuing at Lindsay for the new Lindsay Academy, an independent 7-12 Christian school to be located there. Organizers say the new school, opening for the fall of the 2024-25 school year, will be available to families of all faiths, with teachings rooted in the Catholic faith.

First Communion was held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at a 2 p.m. Mass. Communicants were (front, l. to r.) Cornerstone Insurance Group has announced the promotion of Harley Fiala to the position of Insurance Manager at the Albion location. Harley grew up in David City, and attended college at Southeast Community College in Lincoln.
