BCHC has ‘Rock Steady’ boxing for those battling Parkinson’s

Rock Steady Boxing, a unique exercise program, based on training used by boxing pros, and adapted to people with Parkinson’s disease, will now be available at Boone County Health Center. The program involves regular exercises, such as stretching, balancing, circuit-based training and lots of non-contact boxing, led by experienced therapist/coaches.

Boone Central Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) members returned last week with hardware from their national conference held in Orlando, Florida. Boone Central’s team of Taylor Beierman, left, and Hannah Krohn earned 10th place in the broadcast journalism competition there.

Petersburg wins Best of Theme in fair parade

Petersburg Community Club’s parade float won the Best of Theme first place award at the Boone County Fair Parade Sunday. The community float fit well with this year’s theme, “Stars, Stripes & Summer Nights.” Family members of the late Larry Temme (photo below) were honored as the parade grand marshals

BRAN votes to give Petersburg scholarships

Bicycle Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN), recently announced its riders voted Petersburg the “Best Community” during the 42nd annual event. The award is a $1,500 scholarship that will be designated to Petersburg students who are or will be attending Nebraska trade schools, colleges or universities.
