The Albion Knights of Columbus Council #1739 will be holding its annual Tootsie Roll Drive on the weekend of October 19-20, 2024. Council #1739 will join Councils across the State in the annual drive.

The Boone Central volleyball team was active last week with matches against Ord at home and on the road against Battle Creek and Elgin/Elgin Pope John. The Cardinals were off their game at home for Parent’s Night dropping the match to Ord but played hard at the triangular later in the week, stealing one set from a solid Battle Creek squad. The losses drop the Cards to 9-13.

The Boone Central Girls golf team traveled to the 2024 Mid-States Conference tournament in O’Neill last week, putting in a fourth-place finish. “On Thursday, we went to O’Neill for the Conference tournament,” said Coach Amy Allgood, “The wind made for a tough day out on the course.

What do you get when you combine a nicely manicured Cross Country course, cool temperatures, and a fired up team? Fast times at West Holt High! Or improvement, obviously! The Boone Central Harriers traveled north to the Atkinson Country Club to take on a huge bunch of schools from all over north-central Nebraska and came home smiling! Since joining this meet 10 years ago, the Cardinals have dominated the affair, winning at least one trophy each year, along with a massive haul of hardware. BC needed this shot in the arm to help propel them into the upcoming championship season.

Boone County Health Center (BCHC) has announced the addition of Clay Patrick as a new Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in their expanding Physical Therapy Department. Clay Patrick grew up on a small ranch outside of Bartlett and earned his Associates of Applied Science as a Physical Therapist from Northeast Community College.

District play continued last week with the Cardinals hosting the Centurions of Centura (0-5) looking for their first win of the season. Well, they will still be looking next week as a roster diminished by illness and injury was no match for the boys of Boone Central as they dominated from the beginning enroute to a 49-8 victory.

AN-BCT Intern Play production is a club that allows students to develop their characterization skills.This year the actors/actresses that have been a great selection for this year’s play. For the 2024 season the performance will be Wonderland.

The Boone Central Lady Cards softball team rolled 2-1 at the Conference tournament in Wayne this past weekend, and started sub-district play at home, splitting two games, but holding out hope for a state berth at the end of this week.

This fall, Boone Central School, Lindsay Holy Family and St. Edward School fifth graders learned about electrical safety from Cornhusker Public Power District representatives.

According to Red Cross bloodmobile coordinators Kathy Koch, JoAnn Mattner and assistant Bonnie Wies the September 20th bloodmobile was a success with 37 units received surpassing their goal of 36. Coordinators noted there were quite a few cancellations due to illness.
