A Mass of Christian Burial for Veronica S. Miller, 70 of Albion, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2024,at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion. Fr. Matt Gutowski will officiate, and, inurnment will take place Friday afternoon at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Spalding. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the church, with a wake service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Veronica Sue Miller, daughter of Edward Francis and Marian Lee (Rousey) Walters was born inAlliance, on May 19, 1954, and she passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Bryan Medical Center – East Campus. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Bridgette’s Catholic Church in Hemingford. She began her elementary education at District 57 south of Hemingford, kindergarten through part of the second grade, then District 92 near Marsland through the eighth grade.

Local Lutheran Churches send diapers to Kenya

One hundred seventy-nine diapers made from t-shirts were shipped to Kenya last week, thanks to the combined efforts of Immanuel Zion (IZ) Lutheran Church, rural Albion, and Shell Creek and Zion Lutheran Churches, Newman Grove.

Two to Chadron Hall of Fame

Two graduates of Boone Central High School will be among nine inductees into the Chadron State College Athletic Hall of Fame the evening of Saturday, October 5. They are Mary Wells, now of San Antonio, Texas, and Josh Majerus, who lives at Petersburg and is a teacher and coach at his high school alma mater.

Good Life series Dog Trials concluded last weekend

The Nebraska Good Life series stock dog trials concluded this past weekend with the Sandhills Edge Trial that took place in the Niewohner Arena. Represented in the picture are stock dog handlers from: New Mexico Texas Oklahoma Washington Nebraska Kansas Other states represented were South Dakota, Minnesota and Missouri.
