Stuhrs honored at awards night

On Saturday evening, the Petersburg Fire Department and Rescue Unit held their annual awards night and banquet. Among the awards was a special golden axe plaque presented by Fire Chief Baumgartner. Lieutenant Rod Stuhr has faithfully served the department as a fireman for over 30 years, first as a fireman and for many years as a department training officer. He also has served the Rescue Unit as an EMR for many of those years. Other awards presented went to Boomer Baumgartner and Dean Pelster who received gold watches for their 30 years of service to the department. The Stuhr family has a long-time tradition of supporting the Petersburg Fire Department. Shirley Stuhr also spent hours assisting with the bookkeeping duties during Vet’s term as Chief. Lady Cardinals battle in tough subdistrict

Playoff time for fall sports in Nebraska. The Boone Central volleyball team headed to Columbus for the C1-6 Subdistrict Tournament. The Cardinals were the #4 seed and faced the #5 seed Madison Dragons (8-22) in the first match. After a terrific performance, the girls marched on to the second round where they faced the #1 seed Shamrocks of Scotus Catholic (28-6). The Shamrocks were too much for the Cardinals to handle as they fell, ending their season.

Raymond Central nips Cardinals in playoffs, 21-19

ANBCT Staff The Cardinals of Boone Central stumbled into the NSAA Class C2 Playoffs after an upset loss to Ord (4-5) in the final week of the regular season. That loss took the team from a potential top 4 seed in the tournament all the way down to #8 and perhaps the toughest homefield opener they could ask for.

38 local charities will take part in Big Give

During the first week of December, 38 Boone County charitable organizations will be raising awareness and funds for needed projects to support their missions in the 2024 Boone County Big Give. Over the last 10 years, more than $2.5 million has been raised to support these projects and initiatives.
