NG-SE hoop teams open season

The newly merged Newman Grove-St. Edward basketball programs began their 2024-25 season on Thursday, Dec. 5, as the Panthers traveled to Osceola to take on the Bulldogs. Here’s how the action went: NG-SE Girls The NG-SE girls trailed by six, 9-3 after the first quarter, but the second quarter saw things come apart for the Panthers, as they were outscored 12-6, and trailed 23-9 at the half. The Panthers finished strong, going on an 18-7 tear in the fourth quarter, but still falling short, 42-36.
Lady Cards open with wins over Lakeview, Hartington CC

Boone Central Lady Cardinals got off to an outstanding start for 2024-25 with wins over Columbus Lakeview and Hartington Cedar Catholic last week. In the home opener last Thursday against the Vikings of Lakeview, the Cards got after it early with solid shooting and stifling defense.
