Last week, the Boone County Development Agency (BCDA) presented a $1,500 check to Jacii Lopez, owner of A Kidz Life 2 Daycare, located in Petersburg. The funds are part of BCDA’s Energizing Entrepreneurs program, which is designed to support local entrepreneurs as they pursue opening a business in Boone County.
With the coming of spring its nearly time to rack up the pool cues and close out the Wednesday pool season at the Post 334 American Legion Club. Wednesday evening trophy winners for the week were Boomer Baumgartner and Maureen Seier. Doug Koch and Corey Schaefer and Omar Lopez and Ben Schrad. The last night will be this Wednesday the 12th. PHS Alumni will also be playing pool March 22.
The Cardinal Speech team went on the road for the final time before the state meet on Saturday for the rescheduled David City Invitational. This is the largest meet of the year for the Cardinals and it also features the stiffest competition with powerhouse programs from across all classes in attendance.
Twenty-three Cardinals Club wrestlers competed at the Nebraska USA Districts wrestling tournament on Saturday, March 1 at O’Neill High School. “We have the largest districts with some brackets carrying over 16 wrestlers,” said Coach Josh Majerus.

The Cardinal Speech team attended the Mid State Conference Meet in Battle Creek on Saturday March 1st, and picked up the Conference Championship trophy. The Cardinals placed a meet leading 14 entries into finals and came home with their fourth-consecutive Mid State Conference Championship.
On Friday, February 28th, more than 40 members of the Boone Central FFA Chapter traveled to Central Community College in Grand Island to compete in District Career Development Events. These contests involve testing student knowledge and hands-on skills through tests and practicums.
