State Junior High Rodeo in Albion this weekend

The Nebraska Junior High Rodeo Association will be hosting the state finals this weekend in Albion at the Boone County Agricultural Center/Niewhoner Arena. A few hundred young people are expected to attend, with parents and horses, to compete to be Nebraska’s best in their class and age group.

BCHC celebrates 40 years for cardiac services department

Boone County Health Center (BCHC) will host a week-long celebration June 9–13, 2025, to honor 40 years of Cardiac Rehabilitation Services. Events are scheduled for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with a special community gathering on Wednesday, June 11 from 1:00–2:30 PM at the BCHC South Entrance.

The Cardinal track teams competed in their final regular meet of the season last week at the Ord Invitational on Thursday, May 8th. With districts right around the corner, the coaches took the opportunity to rest many of the athletes.

A White Star quick shop is opening its doors in Newman Grove. Niewohner Brothers from Albion has purchased The Grove located on the southeast side of Newman Grove.
“The Grove” is under new management as a branch of White Star.

A funeral service for Marilyn Joyce Foland, 82, of Belgrade, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at United Methodist Church in Belgrade.

Krohn wins Alda Lehr Scholarship

The Alda Lehr Scholarship for $1,500 has been awarded to Avery Krohn, daughter of Mathew and Emily Krohn this year. Krohn has chosen to study elementary education/special education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
