Boone County Fair boasts musical acts, rodeo, races, carnival and much more

Barely two weeks away, the Boone County Fair kicks off on Saturday, July 12 at the Fairgrounds in Albion – with events through the 16th for all ages and interests. This year’s theme for the Fair and Parade is “Bee Happy at the Boone County Fair” – and floats and fairgoers are encouraged to make use of the them in their celebrations.

BCHC partners for older adult mental healthcare

Boone County Health Center has partnered with Senior Life Solutions to help older adults who are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, or other mental challenges often associated with aging. The Boone County Health Center Senior Life Solutions department provides outpatient services designed to meet the unique needs of individuals (typically 65 and older) who could benefit from coping and communication skills to improve their mental health well-being.

Theilen celebrates 10 years at CPPD

Bryce Theilen recently celebrated his 10-year service anniversary with Cornhusker Public Power District. Theilen was hired as an apprentice line technician on May 18, 2015.

Jay Wemhoff was promoted to Engineering Staking Technician/ Safety Chairman on April 17, 2025. Wemhoff began working as an apprentice line technician on the Columbus construction crew in 2001.

Seniors take win over Irish

The Albion Post #162 Seniors baseball team played in three games, picking up two wins, since last week’s report. The team took wins over DC Post and O’Neill’s Irish, and lost to Platte River.

The Albion Post #162 Juniors boys’ baseball team took two losses since last report, ending their three game winning streak against Platte River, and taking a loss to visiting O’Neill on Monday evening.

Umanska places in NWF contest...

Anhelina Umanska of St. Edward Public School, won second place for her drawing of Monarch Butterfly in the 2025 Marge Kennedy Nebraska Wildlife Federation Wildlife Poster Contest. Many 6th graders from across the state submitted entries. She received her award at Pioneers Park Natures Center in Lincoln where her poster was on display.
