BigIron Realty has announced the winner of it’s 6th annual “First Responder & Medical Professional Appreciation Contest,” choosing Boone County Sheriff Denny Johnson as the winning finalist this year.
Petersburg Community Club president Danielle Koch presented a first Dollar plaque to Jacii Lopez of Elgin. Lopez is owner of A Kidz’s Life Daycare 2 located in the Village Campus. Lopez and employees provide daycare in a fun filled environment with indoor and outdoor activities. The plaque was to have been presented at the annual supper in January but due to other commitments Lopez was unable to attend.
Sunday members of the Petersburg golf league and Ladies golf league gathered to clean the Petersburg course. Following the clean-up a pizza meal was served and a short meeting held.
The Wayne Blue Devil Invitational Track and Field Meet is always a great show! It combines, for the first time outdoors, several of the better teams in Class B, including Wayne, Scotus, Pierce, and of course, Boone Central.
The Boone Central National Honor Society chapter held it’s “tapping ceremony” on Monday, April 13, with 11 new scholars joining the group. The National Honor Society inductees included: Makenna Devine Leah Erickson Lucas Frey Ella Gompert Brynna Hagemann Addysen Hedlund Kasey Krohn Kaden Miller Ashlynn Naber Dorothy Smith Kenzie Wies During the event, the Senior NHS members were also given their honor cords to wear at graduation..
Members of the locally-known Werner family have been included in this year’s Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association’s hall of fame nomination. The family members, listed below, were inducted into the David Bartelma Wrestling Hall of Fame at a special induction dinner on Saturday, April 11.
Albion Scouts are asking for the community’s help with their Scouting for Food drive on Saturday, April 18th 2026. The Scouts are collecting donations of any non-perishable food items for the Boone County Food Pantry.
Four Boone Central wrestlers went on the road to theAAU Midwest High School National Duals tournament in Des Moines, Iowa on Friday and Saturday, April 3-4. “Four of our wrestlers had success at National team duals,” said Coach Josh Majerus, “Nebraska Division one won the National Title.
