BCFF awards $56,100 in grants
On April 8th, the Boone County Foundation Fund (BCFF), an affiliated fund of the Nebraska Community Foundation (NCF), awarded $56,100 in grant funding to 20 local charitable projects.

Golf team on the course...
The Boone Central boys’ golf team has competed in a number of events since the beginning of the year. Most recently they hosted the Boone Central Invitational on April 18, and a quad at home before that, and Ord to start the season.
Hot competition brings out best at Cards Invite
Having a home track and field meet is one thing. But, having a home track meet with fantastic competition and wonderful weather conditions is definitely another! After a scorcher of a day on Monday, Tuesday’s cooler temps made competition at the Boone Central Invitational a much more enjoyable day!
Scouts hold Pinewood Derby races
On Sunday, April 12, Girl Scouts Troop 58770 and Pack 155 Cub Scouts held the 2026 Pinewood Derby Race in the basement of The Zion Lutheran Church in Albion. Eight Cub Scouts and five Girl Scouts participated in the race that showcased their hard work and effort over several weeks of preparation.
Fr. Baumert to be honored at blood drive
The Petersburg Community Red Cross blood drive is scheduled for Monday April 27,2026 in the Petersburg Post 334 American Legion Club from Noon to 6:00 p.m. The April drive will honor Father Frank Baumert of Petersburg.

Funeral services for Dale Sheldon, 98, formerly of Spalding and Albion, will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2026 at the Sandhills Baptist Fellowship Church, Ericson. Pastor John Schere will officiate, and interment will be at Pibel Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near Ericson.
