Boone County will celebrate its 11th giving week December 2-7th, 2024. During this time, 37 local charitable organizations will be raising awareness and funds to support initiatives that benefit area residents and visitors.

ANBCT Staff As the citizens of Boone County went to the polls on Election Day, they did so in large numbers, as did the citizens of the state of Nebraska and the United States in a huge election turnout.

During the first week of December, 38 Boone County charitable organizations will be raising awareness and funds for needed projects to support their missions in the 2024 Boone County Big Give. Over the last 10 years, more than $2.5 million has been raised to support these projects and initiatives.

Dirt work started on the new park area for the equipment purchased as a memorial for Eli Porter in Fuller Park near the hospital and fairgrounds. The project was announced in November of 2023, and hit very near it’s hoped for start date. The 7000 square foot, all-inclusive park and equipment was part of fundraising and grant efforts over the last year, as well as last year’s Big Give, and was expected to cost around $165,000 after grants and donations kicked off the project.

St. Michael’s school had a Go Big Red Mission’s day on Thursday, October 17th.

This year’s 2024 Color Day court were crowned last Saturday, October 19 at the commencement festivities. Thomas Roberts, son of Susan and Andy Roberts, was crowned king during the 2024 ceremony at Boone Central’s Color Day.
