For the third consecutive year, the Boone Central speech team won the team sweepstakes title at a very competitive Mid-State Conference Tournament last Saturday, Feb. 24, at Hartington Cedar Catholic.

Big Give 2023 brought over $365,000 to 35 organizations

Final tabulations for the 2023 Boone County Big Give was completed last week, showing a total of $365,583 will be presented to the 35 nonprofit organizations. The new total includes incentive funds, which are sponsor dollars remaining after expenses.

Avery Olnes of Albion was among several students inducted recently by Phi Kappa Phi at Wayne State College. She is among some 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year.

Bill and Jami Kusek are parents of a son, Tobias John, who was born on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024 at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, He weighed seven pounds 15 ounces, and was 21 inches long.

Albion Music Club met at Harmony Homes on Jan. 22, 2024 hosted by Dawn Smith. She called the meeting to order at 7 p.m., followed by roll call, with 17 members present. Minutes of the December meeting were approved as presented. Treasurer Cheryl Sherburne gave her report. Jill Johnson said that the Courtesy Committee had sent several cards.
