The annual Memorial Day ceremony was held at the Veteran’s Memorial in Petersburg. Vice Commander Pat Cleveland welcomed those in attendance. This was followed by advancement of the colors by Post 334. The pledge of Allegiance was led by Post 334 Auxiliary followed by the National Anthem sung by Emma Lordemann and Sadie Goodwater. Invocation was given by Chaplain Hank Thieman.
Albion Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring several special local events during the upcoming summer season. The first of these will be Alumni Day on Saturday, June 15.
Nebraska Broadband Office (NBO) will mark its official anniversary on Sunday. Early in his administration, Governor Jim Pillen created the Office through issuance of an executive order. Then on May 26, 2023, he signed LB683 creating NBO in statute.
American Red Cross has scheduled blood drives in several area towns during May and June. Late May signals the beginning of a busy time for celebrations and summer holidays.

In the Northern Plains Region (Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota) there were 37,000 workers hired directly by farm operators on farms and ranches during the week of April 7-13, unchanged from the April 2023 reference week, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.
