Health Center to celebrate awards

Boone County Health Center (BCHC) has announced the facility has once again been recognized as a Five-Star Hospital—marking the fifth year the local Center has earned this prestigious designation. This recognition solidifies Albion’s hospital as one of the very few hospitals across the state of Nebraska to achieve such honors, and as the only Critical Access Hospital in the state to receive this award.

Rae Valley Days a success despite high heat, humidity

High heat and humidity last weekend didn’t hold down the enthusiasm for the antique farming demonstrations at the 42nd annual Nebraska State Antique Tractor & Horse Plowing Contest near Petersburg. However, the conditions did hold down crowd size somewhat last Sunday when temperatures at Charlie’s Park reached 95 degrees.

Two join behavioral health department at Health Center

Boone County Health Center (BCHC has announced the addition of two new mental health practitioners to the facility’s team: Brittany Bertram, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, and Trevor Hyatt, LMHP, MA/BC. “Their arrival marks a significant enhancement to our behavioral health services, offering comprehensive care to our community,” said Aprill Murphy, BCHC Public Relations.

NEST wraps up summer throwing season

In The NEST regular season, last place seed, Dylan Zoucha, found his stride and battled his way through the play in bracket to reach the Championship bracket. Dylan would eventually run out of steam in the Championship bracket, but not before eliminating the #3 seed from the tournament. Dylan is definitely the IRON MAN of the tournament having put up over 100 THROWS on the evening!!

Morris joins TC Vet offices

A new veterinarian has joined the team at TC Vet in Albion, Elysia (“Ely”) Morris, DVM, started with her official rounds just after Memorial Day this past May. Morris is a native of northern Minnesota, and said that working on her extended family’s dairy operation helped cultivate and create a love for animals, specifically beef cattle as she learned more, which led her into veterinarian practice.

BCHC has ‘Rock Steady’ boxing for those battling Parkinson’s

Rock Steady Boxing, a unique exercise program, based on training used by boxing pros, and adapted to people with Parkinson’s disease, will now be available at Boone County Health Center. The program involves regular exercises, such as stretching, balancing, circuit-based training and lots of non-contact boxing, led by experienced therapist/coaches.

Applied Connective celebrates 20 years

Many area residents were on hand for the 20th anniversary celebration at the Applied Connective Technologies headquarters in Albion last Saturday evening, May 18. The crowd also included many employees and their families from varaious locaitons in Nebraska.
