Terri Jasa of St. Edward began her duties last week as the new zoning administrator and road department secretary for Boone County.

Class C1 #9 ranked Boone Central (Omaha World-Herald) stacked up two more wins this past week and continued to build momentum for the rapidly approaching postseason. The Cardinals (12-4) have won five straight games, nine of their past 10, and 12 of 14 since an 0-2 start.

Cardinals host Bonge Invite The Boone Central Dale Bonge Invitational is always one of the most anticipated events of the winter sports season. Saturday’s 2024 version was no exception, with a tough field of teams, an enthusiastic crowd and a Cardinal senior battling to a gold medal.

We said it would be a tough week for the Boone Central girls and that’s one of those predictions you hope to be wrong on ... but alas.

Thursday, Feb. 1: Mid-State Conference Girls Basketball Tournament, TBD; BC Middle School Boys Basketball at Fullerton, 4:30 p.m.

Boone Central hosted Lakeview and Scotus for dual wrestling action Thursday. The Boone boys earned a split with the Columbus schools while the Lady Cardinals were edged by Lakeview.

The Boone Central boys bowling team headed to Columbus to face the Class A #1 Discoverers Jan. 22. The Cards kept it close but ultimately fell short, losing the two regular games (647-701, 694-736). The boys were able to claim victory in the Baker game to make the final score 12-9.

Although shorthanded Boone Central did not challenge for the team championship, Cardinal Coach Josh Majerus was pleased with the efforts by his wrestlers in the Gibbon Bill Foster Invite.

After multiple weather delays and reschedules, basketball was finally back on the court for Boone Central’s middle school teams. Tipping off the 2024 season, the Cardinal middle school A team was victorious in a dominating 54-25 win against the Pierce Bluejays on Monday, Jan.
