Albion resident Ashley Pedro is set to take part in an awareness initiative featured on the National Mall in Washington, DC, during March—Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. A recent report from the American Cancer Society (ACS) highlights the critical need for awareness, revealing that colorectal cancer has become the leading cancer killer in men under 50 and ranks second for young women, just behind breast cancer.

Jerry Wayne Carter was born on Nov. 12, 1939, to Kenneth William (Bill) and Bertha (Kramer) Carter in St. Edward. Jerry went to school from elementary through high school in St. Edward, graduating with the class of 1957.

Shirley Evelyn Choat, 84, of St. Edward, passed away Sunday, Feb.

Barry was born to Francis Ray Waid and Lauraine Lottie Schultz Waid on Oct. 20, 1952 at the Boone County Community Hospital in Albion. On Nov. 10, 2011, he began a battle with Aspergillus Fumigatus which he lost on Feb. 1, 2024.

Kay Ellen (Doering) Robinson, 87, of Albion, passed away Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in Albion.

Marion M. Anderson, 86, of Albion, died on Friday, Feb.
