I’m glad Nebraskans will have a chance to vote in November on the state’s School Choice law. It will be an interesting election issue, because there are good points to the argument on both sides, and it boils down to how much weight you give each side.

A big project is coming to conclusion at the DC Ag facility southeast of Albion. The new 3,600-square-foot office area is nearing completion, and owner Dallas Choat said he hopes to have that area in use by this Friday, March 8.

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that agricultural producers and private landowners began signing up for the general Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) starting March 4 and running through March 29, 2024.

Agricultural producers who have not yet enrolled in the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) or Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs for the 2024 crop year have until March 15, 2024, to revise elections and sign contracts.

Children at the Albion Public Library last Saturday, March 2, celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss and the beginning of Read Across America Week. One of their activities (above) was to create “Cat in the Hat” masks.

St, Edward City Council approved motions to vacate a street and begin a sewer system study during a short regular meeting Monday night, March 4. The council voted to vacate a section of undeveloped Second Street, north of Hardy Street.

St. Edward Public School will have spring break this week, with early dismissal at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6. There are no classes Thursday and Friday. Students return to start the fourth quarter on Monday, March 11.

St. Edward Beaver speech team, along with coaches MacDonald, Stark and Osantowski, competed in the Riverside Speech Invitational at Cedar Rapisd on Wednesday, Feb.

St. Edward American Legion served a large crowd at their annual pancake meal last Saturday, March 2, in the Community Center.
